Despite embarking on a new criminal enterprise, the notorious Pirates of Penzance are failing to live up to their fearsome reputation. When young Frederic finishes his apprenticeship and leaves the pirate band to find himself a bride, the other members of the crew decide to follow suit. Mayhem ensues when the pirates attempt to abduct all the daughters of the eccentric Major General Stanley, a situation made even more chaotic by the reluctant involvement of the local constabulary.

Ipswich Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s new production of this classic comic opera combines tradition – all the famous songs are featured, including: Poor Wand’ring One, I Am The Very Model of a Modern Major General, and A Policeman’s Lot Is Not a Happy One – with a novel 20th Century piratical twist!

The Pirates of Penzance is performed by a cast of over 30, with a 13-strong live orchestra. Stage Direction by James Hayward, Musical Direction by Sue Wightman.
